Aren’t we all Supermoms ?  This Babywearing supermom tells us her secret

After having my second child, I wanted to be able to do my own thing and yet be in control of my children – an infant & toddler. The answer was clear Tandem Wearing. While, I was excited about babywearing them both, I was an apprehensive initiator to tandem wearing (wearing both my children together). Reasons were quite simple – My body was way exhausted, I used to feel dead tired 24*7 and most importantly I did not want to get hassled and put myself under unnecessary stress.

How Tandem wearing started for me – My husband’s paternity leave went by with him being on the bed with viral fever over 102 degrees. My elder one was the first to fall under the viral fever grip, meaning I had 2 sick kids {including my hubby ;-)} at home + a new born. My elder one used to be clingy, cranky and super-possessive about me. For her, the new born was an ‘Enemy’ sent by forces unknown to take her mom away from her. She would not let me wear the new born as she believed it was her babycarriers that I was using.

Slowly and steadily, trying to tandem wear them daily by coaxing them – I succeeded in wearing them both for maximum 45 minutes. It was tiring and exhausting, although it rescued me through the tough times, especially since I don’t have much help at home. Also it felt out of the world to carry your precious little creations together and to see the toddler bond with the new born by touching and playing with him.

Tandem wearing helped me be more independent. I remember once I went to an organic market and a vendor told me “You are a supermom ” I said thank you to her but in my mind I knew I do not want to be a supermom and just want somebody to help me – all so that I can have a few minutes of ‘ME’ time.

“”Just because a mother who has two or more kids and tandem wears does not mean she is a supermom. Every mother is a supermom””
