Beat The Rainy Day Boredom With Fun Indoor Activities

My 3-year-old keeps singing ‘Rain Rain go away. Come again another day. Little baby wants to play’’

It’s Monsoon time and all the kids are getting bored sitting inside the house. Monsoon is also a season where kids/toddlers are always at a risk to fall sick. So that’s another reason we want our kids to stay indoors.

Being at home means, kids spend most of their time watching TV which is not a good idea. It’s really hard to search for a perfect activity when it’s a rainy day and all the parks are drenched with muddy water. There are a number of activities you can do with your kids, even in this monsoon season. Make these rainy days memorable for little ones. After all, a mom’s creativity never ends and never allows bad weather to spoil the fun.

Here is a list of a few indoor activities for kids and preschoolers.

  • Playdates: you can invite a couple of moms with their kids and can arrange a play date for your kid. Play some of their favourite songs and let them dance away for some time. Be ready to treat them well as they’ll be hungry after the dance party. Musical Chairs can be arranged depending on the number of kids during rain.
  • Pencil paper games: There are a lot of pencil games like Dots & Square, Pictionary, Name, Place Animal, Guessing Game
  • Cards:– Monsoon are the best time to play card and board games. For the younger lot, the alphabet, fruit, and animal cards work the best. Don’t go by the rules just ask them to arrange and rearrange the cards into different designs and layouts.
  • Carom board:– Kids can enjoy carom board too it’s a great indoor activity too.
  • Art and Craft:- Involve your kid in art and craft. Make fun with shredded paper or encourage kids to draw some animals and stick a cluster of shredded paper on those drawings and you have yourself a nice and creative piece of craft from your kids. If any upcoming festival or occasion is coming kids can create little greeting cards and decorate it with paper quilling.
  • Fruit Rainbow: Kids can create a snack like this fruit rainbow o bring a little cheer on a gloomy rainy day. Arrange a small cooking class for kids in which they can create their own sandwich and learn to eat vegetables also.
  • Clay:– let their imagination run. Ask them to create anything with clay and this could be really interesting to watch.
  • Kitchen set:– Little girls loves to pretend and play. They enjoy cooking in their little kitchen.
  • Storytime:– Indulge in some storytelling, board books and picture books. Try to read an interesting story to kids and ask them to do the role-play.
  • Colouring:- Coloring with crayons, and watercolours are so much fun. Give your kids some colours and let them paint with their fingers. It would be really fun to see what they make with their imagination.
