Designing your Preschooler’s Room

Before you deck your kids’ lab at home, it is important to consider your child’s age and their interest. A lab for a toddler will look much different from a child who is in preschool. The kind of space, material, the subject will differ from interest to interest but also age.
Here are some tips to decorate your kid’s room

  1. Colour me up
There are various ways a child can colour a picture, crayons, and paints to name a few. Also, they can use a paintbrush, sponge, cotton bud, pom-poms, and their own hands to do so. Let them choose and decide which medium they prefer. This will help in the enhancement of their sensory as well as fine motor skills.
  2. Hands-on is fun
A specific shelf can be assigned to all the hands-on activities that the child can perform. Ice cream sticks, pom-poms, play dough, etc can be placed in different baskets so that the child can play and learn in a fun manner.
  3. Story box
You can also make a box full of storybooks or flashcards of stories so that the child can grab any book at any time and look at them. Picture reading is a fun way for them to improve their creative skills.
  4. Assign responsibility
Give your child their own small desk and chair to work on. Let them know that it is their responsibility to keep it clean and tidy. This way they will have fun, learn and also understand responsibility. Soon they will also make sure that the room is also kept neatly and they will place everything back in their own place.
  5. Make it accessible
Since we are designing this room for a child, make sure things are accessible for him/ her. The shelves should not be too tall, baskets or boxes should be child friendly and all the activities should be within their reach. This will make them independent and capable of making choices.

If you are looking for a fun, interactive way to teach with crafts and activities, that will help your child’s growth.
