Farm animals are an excellent topic of study for preschoolers. Children will engage and have fun during a series of activities, games, songs, and rhymes centered on baby animal vocabulary: chick, duckling, lamb, bunny, puppy, kitten, foal, calf, piglet, and kid.

1. Monday Activity – Flash cards
Introduce children  to different farm animals and what food and materials they can provide us and our community. The common ones are goats, sheep, cattle, oxen, camels, buffalos, horses, donkeys, mules, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks.

Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown is one of the classic book for kids that explores a day about to learn about the life of various barn yard animals. This amusing story is about cows that use a typewriter to negotiate better terms of work with the farmer. 

3. Wednesday Activity – Sensory Play / Sensory Bin
Make a farm in your sand table. Create different areas for the different farm animals. Children can also find hidden objects in this sand table as they learn about colours counting, opposites and much more.

4. Thursday Activity – Farm animal craft activity
Not only are farm animals fun to imitate, they are fun to base crafts off of too! This DIY Paper Cow Craft activity is not only easy and simple fun to make.


5. Friday Activity – Farm Animals Song
We love getting kids up and bouncing to this class nursery rhyme ‘Old MacDonald Had a Farm’. Enjoy this fun song on farm animals with your little one. Sing along with them while they make funny animals sounds.
