Have you taught these things to your toddler on Republic Day?

The 26th day of January is marked as a historic one for India because our Constitution came into force on this day. It is a parent’s responsibility to raise a child with knowledge of the history of India & national festivals of India. Make them aware of the struggles & sacrifice of freedom fighters and tell kids to be thankful to them for handing over a beautiful Independent India with world’s largest constitution. Here are the things parents must teach to their children about Republic Day so that they grow as responsible citizens and contribute their bit towards nation building:

  • Teach them the difference between Independence Day & Republic Day.
  • Your child must know the National Anthem which he/she sings in school every day.
  • Your child must know how the great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Sing, Chandrashekhar Azad spent their lives fighting for the freedom of the nation from the hands of the British.
  • Teach your child to be grateful for the kind of freedom we all enjoy today because of how a few great leaders fought for our country’s freedom.
  • It is important to teach your child about the significance of the flag. The color saffron indicates courage and selflessness. The white color represents honesty, purity, and peace. Green represents faith, fertility, and prosperity of the nation. Ashok Chakra is considered the Dharma Chakra which is known as the Samay Chakra, which represents the 24 precious hours of the whole day.
  • To respect the country, take part in nation-building and to respect scriptures, tradition, varied faiths.
  • The National Bravery Award is given to children who have displayed acts of bravery. Teach your child to be brave in all conditions, accept challenges and fight for one’s rights.
