Top 5 Realistic New Year’s Resolution for a Mother

Can you believe; it is already the resolution time of year again! It seems that every year we set ambitious goals that are going to be life-changing but hardly any of them we adapt in reality. Making a “good” New Year’s Resolution is all about setting realistic and achievable goals. Setting small, realistic goals will help you be able to stay on track and not become discouraged.

  1. Enjoy the precious moments with your kids: When you get to spend time with your kids, make sure to enjoy it! Talk to them about school, friends, or life in general. Look for reasons to talk and interact with them.
  2. Find time to exercise each day: There are so many more ways to exercise than lifting weights or running! Dancing, swimming, deep cleaning, biking, Zumba, HIIT classes, yoga, and water aerobics are all excellent ways to stay fit. Find something that you love doing, and exercise will stop feeling like a chore and start feeling like a reward!
  3. Spent less time on social media: Have you noticed that you spend a lot of time looking at Facebook, or other social media when you are with your kids? I find myself ignoring my daughter just so I can see what my friend is doing this week. Reducing time spent on social media will also help you achieve goal #1 which is to enjoy your kids and family more.
  4. Spend some time with your husband: Decide on a time each week that you will set aside to date your spouse. It could be a few hours on Friday evening after the kids are in bed. Or, it could be Tuesday afternoon when you go out for lunch. Whatever time you decide on, make it sacred. Do not plan anything else in its place.
  5. Make more phone calls rather than texting: We can learn so much about a person by having a conversation on the phone with them. Who knows, you might even be able to detect sadness or sickness if you give someone a call, and be able to serve them. Doesn’t that sound nice?
