Fun Activities with Toddlers when Preschool/Daycares are closed this Summer

The summer holidays are here and as the long summer days stretch ahead of you, it becomes impossible task to keep your kids entertained without turning to screens and devices. Here we have some simple & creative ideas to keep your children occupied and entertained-

1. DIY Ball Drop Game for Toddlers

Things required- Chart Paper , 1 sheet, Cello-tape, Glue, Stickers, Plastic Balls.

Make a paper basket or a tunnel of sorts using chart paper, decorated it with some stickers and stick it at a convenient height for your child, possible on the side of a cupboard (you may stick it to a wall, door, shelf or whichever area suits you and your little one the best). Then place a tiny bucket full of plastic balls beside this setup. Once the setup is done, teach your child how to toss the balls through the paper tunnel from the top. They would be fascinated when the ball would come out from the bottom!

2. Cardboard Box Coloring

This is a great idea if you have smaller children. When my kids were little they were like most kids and colored on the wall at one point in time or the other. Well, you can beat that epidemic by placing your child inside a cardboard box, giving them a crayon, and allowing them to color until their little hearts are content.

3. Cotton Ball Painting

I love this idea to make painting easier for both the kids and parents. You just attach cotton balls to a clothespin. Then you dip them in the paint to paint with. When you are ready to clean up, you just throw the cotton balls away.

4. Have a picnic at a local or state park

Getting kids together for a picnic at a local or state park can be a fun group activity. Just make sure to find some shade!

5. Practice baking and cooking new recipes with them

Kids love anything involving food, and teaching them to cook is a great way to get them involved in the kitchen. Help them pick out recipes they like, try new foods, and learn all about measuring ingredients. Plus, once they’ve made their first dish, they’ll get to eat it, too!

6. Take your kids to the pool

Whether you go to a neighborhood pool or the pool in your backyard, swimming is a great way for your kids to cool off while also getting exercise. If they really love to swim, you can even sign them up for swim team or one-on-one lessons. Just make sure they’re wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated.

6. Enroll your kids in a summer camp

These days, there’s a summer camp based on almost any topic. Ask your child what interests them – whether they love to draw, play basketball, or learn new languages, there’s sure to be a class, team, or camp where they can learn more about their passions. Plus, it’s a great way for them to meet new friends who also share their interests.
