Expert tips by Shalini – Planning an educational trip at your preschool

Are you a tired of getting your toddler ready for yet another field trip with his preschool buddies, then cheer up mommy!!  because along with the fun involved in these trips, they can bring in age appropriate educational experience for your little one.

Shalini Jaiswal, Director- Academic at leading preschool Maple Bear says, “Field trips provide a learning experience outside the classroom & out of the curriculum. They provide a chance to children to learn at their own pace without having to worry about being judged. It lets the children experience & observe an environment outside their familiar spaces. It helps to bridge the gap between education & hands-on experience. At Maple Bear we ensure we provide this happy & perfect mix to our students.”

The most popular field visits at preschools are –

  • Garden visit
  • Fire station
  • Ice-cream factory
  • Police station
  • Adventure/ water park
  • Nursery
  • Mall & many more places which give an opportunity to these young minds to observe & see things beyond their classroom setup.

Shalini however advices some tips to make the most of these educational & fun trips. They say that we can get most out of these trips only when the staff & children are well prepared.  They suggest-

  1. Talk to students in advance
  2. Let the parent have detailed information about site & address
  3. Share emergency contact nos
  4. Create curiosity among children
  5. Show them few pics & videos – they will know what to expect
  6. Coordinate on meals & transport in advance
  7. Staff should have all parents’ contact details with addresses
  8. Pickup & drop points have to shared in advance. Keep it to & from school in case of confusion.
  9. Select site wisely. The younger ones won’t be able to travel too far
  10. Don’t make it all about learning, add fun factor to each trip & you will return with happy faces 😊

Parents on the other hand can ensure that the school authorities have all the relevant details about the child.

So next time when your child’s preschool plans a trip for him – you know he is going on a fun filled trip which connects him with the real world which will help him experience a different culture & social environment.
