Top 12 things that moms can do when they get a break

Motherhood is joyous, motherhood is amazing, and motherhood is exhausting. Some days you feel like there is never enough time to complete everything. The days are filled with household work, taking care of your toddler, shopping for grocery, making meals and doing laundry. And if you are working, then dealing with office work as well. But this doesn’t mean you can’t make time for yourself.

It may seem impossible with all you have on your plate, but taking some time off to renew and recharge is a good investment that pays real returns. After all a rested, physically and emotionally healthy woman is a better mom, a better wife, and can accomplish more in fewer hours than the drained-weary version of herself.

Here are some things you can do when you get a short break –

  1. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the early morning when everyone is yet sleeping
  2. Read a new book or listen to your favourite music
  3. Take a relaxing bubble bath
  4. Write a blog or create a gratitude journal and write in it at the end of the day
  5. Lay down on your bed for an actual rest (or take a power nap)
  6. Sit on your porch or somewhere quiet or call a friend
  7. Take a short morning or evening walk. When you lace up your walking shoes and step outside, leave everything — including your kids, cell phone, and worries — behind

Once in a while go for one of these which take more time.

  1. Go for a movie with your best friend
  2. Make a date with your friends
  3. Go for shopping for yourself (and no grocery shopping doesn’t count)
  4. Take a spa appointment
  5. Visit a salon for a relaxing facial, pedicure, manicure or a new haircut (some much needed pampering)

To be the best wife, mom, friend and employee you can be you MUST find a way to refuel yourself on a regular basis. You need guilt-free “me time”. And these daycares with their flexible services are providing you that opportunity.
