A sense of satisfaction which we get when we do something we love is priceless. We always love to do several DIY with things which are easily available at home .All the activities which we do are child led. This diy Popsicle stick puzzle is done by my son. Recently he has developed a new interest of doing diy of his own. As parents, we support to develop his interest.
Objectives & Skills of this activity
- It aids to spell the name of the child, word formation, letters and numbers
- Improves cognitive, reasoning and problem solving skills in the child.
- Aids in developing interest towards painting.
Material needed
Plain Popsicle sticks
Cookie cutter (optional)
Water Colours
Sketch Pen
Cello tape (optional)
Procedure to do DIY Popsicle stick puzzle
Arrange the Popsicle sticks in an order; you can take minimum 5 to 15 Popsicle sticks. Maximum depends on what you are going to paint.
You can stick cello tape to the other side of Popsicle sticks so that it will ease the work of painting.
Give the cookie cutter to the child and tell to paint within the cookie cutter, if you don’t have cookie cutter.
If child is interested in painting, you can ask the child to paint any picture of his choice.
Once the painting gets dried, you can serial the sticks by writing numbers or letters or name of the child.
Then mix everything and present it to child to solve DIY Popsicle sticks puzzles.
Simple things can do wonders and cannot be replaced by any expensive toys.
