7 Home Remedies to treat stretch marks naturally

Pregnancy stretch marks are a result of the skin around the abdomen stretching out to accommodate a growing belly.  You see fine lines developing around the areas where fats have accumulated, usually in the stomach, chest, belly bottom and thighs.

Now the question is how to get rid of stretch marks after delivery? The basic idea is to moisturize your skin so that it remains well-hydrated throughout the pregnancy starting at 5 months. Regular coconut oil is recommended. The most common cause for itchy stretch marks is dry skin that isn’t adequately moisturized. Hence, the more you keep your skin soft and supple, the less will be your stretch marks.

Here are some home remedies to help reduce stretch marks.

1. Oil treatment – Using coconut oil is perhaps the best natural way to keep your skin moisturized. Regular massage of coconut in the abdomen area, belly, thighs, and chest will help your skin to become smooth and you can see the desired results of reduced stretch marks.

2. Aloe Vera gel – Aloe Vera Gel helps to diminish stretch marks. Squeeze out the gel from a fresh plant and apply it over the affected areas daily. It promotes healing and soothes your skin.

3. Stay hydrated – Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will help keep your skin hydrated. This keeps your skin supple and helps maintain elasticity, thereby making your skin layers less prone to tearing.

4. Egg Whites – Egg whites is considered to be an effective remedy for stretch marks. Proteins in egg whites revitalize your skin. Try applying whites on the stretch marks on a regular basis and see how the marks fade away.

5. Shea Butter – Butter application on the affected area improves the elasticity of the skin and prevents dryness. Apply Shea butter or cocoa butter directly on the stretch marks to reduce their appearance. Wash off after application and repeat the procedure regularly.

6. Vitamin E – Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects the collagen fibers in your skin from damage due to free radicals. Eat foods high in vitamin E (almonds, olives, sunflower seeds, spinach, avocados, pumpkins, etc.) and massage your skin with vitamin E oil or cream several times a day. You can take vitamin E oral supplements as well.

7. Potato Juice – Take a medium size potato and cut it into two-halves. Take one piece and rub it on the stretch marks. See that the juice gets soak into the skin.  Then wash it off with water.
