Child proofing checklist before your little one starts crawling

Babies start crawling as early as 6 months. This is an important development milestone and a time for parents to ensure baby proofing as babies are very curious by nature. They will want to reach out to every corner of the house and touch things that comes in their way. You will constantly have to keep a watch. Even a slight carelessness can hurt a child anytime. Therefore it is necessary to start baby proofing your home before they start crawling.

 In the bathroom 

  • Place anti slip mats
  • Place all hazardous/poisonous household products in latched cupboards.
  • Keep your toilet seats closed and washrooms closed as babies are prone to drowning.
  • Cover electrical outlets with safety caps as your child might touch these sockets with wet hands. Also, unplug electrical devices after their use.

 In the Kitchen

  • Do not let you child enter kitchen when cooking is in progress.
  • Keep away hot food from table corners.
  • Keep away any sharp instrument like knife away from the reach of children
  • Use drawer clamps to prevent your little one’s fingers getting jammed

In the Living Area and Bedrooms

  • Use door stoppers
  • Keep first aid handy all time
  • Do not leave water on floor
  • Use edge bumpers on all sharp edged furniture to avoid any injury.
  • Avoid placing high chairs/table against the window as the child may climb and fall down.
  • Your windows should be locked all times and children should be accompanied if looking out of the window.
  • Always cover your dustbin
