5 Interesting Recipes to feed your child Palak/Spinach

One of the most common issue faced by parents across is of their children not eating green vegetables. Due to the current lifestyles and eating habits, it becomes extremely critical for us to ensure that there is a balanced diet for our child. One such vegetable rich in Iron and Protein is Spinach.

Nowadays, telling kids that Popeye ate spinach so he could be big and strong doesn’t exactly work. Instead, you’re should be a bit more creative to make sure your child eats it.

  1. Palak Paraantha – Chop a lot of spinach leaves, boil it, and knead it with the atta dough. Make some yummy mildly spiced paraanthas out of it which will go very well for your child’s lunch or tiffin box. It would best go with some chutney, pickle or butter. A side dish made using ingredients that are high on Vitamin C are best for absorption of iron in the palak.

  4. Palak Rice – This can be a great food for those who are fussy to eat leafy greens. Spinach is pureed and tempered with spices. It can be served on its own with some fresh veggie salad or sliced vegetables.
  5. Palak Pakodas – Tell your kids its pakodas time this evening. Make assorted pakodas of onion, potatoes and also include lots of spinach pakodas. It is one of the easiest ways to make your child consume spinach. It goes very well with ketchup or green chutney.
