However, it is very necessary for every child to be accompanied by an adult while bursting crackers to have safe Diwali celebrations. Top leaders from these preschools are sharing their tips to celebrate a safe & happy Diwali :
Ankita Aggarwal, Chairperson from Vallores Preschool says that always accompany your young one while bursting crackers. Being a responsible citizen; we should use eco-friendly crackers, to save our children & surrounding from bad fumes and harmful chemicals. Our cultural values are to take care of nature and all the creatures around us, and keeping our earth safe for other living beings on earth. Using the traditional lighting of candles and clay Diyas that are bio-degradable and cost-effective as well which are the best way to illuminate healthy and safe Diwali.
Mansi Talwar, Parent Engagement Head from Kara4Kids says that the best way to celebrate Diwali is to make an effort and set an example in front of our children to celebrate a meaningful Diwali. Go green this Diwali and light Diyas instead of energy-burning lamps and lights. Buy eco-friendly gifts for your friends and family. Keep infants, young children and pets inside the house when lighting fireworks. Wear proper clothing and shoes while lighting crackers to avoid burns and ensure your celebration remains happy and safe for your near and dear ones. He promotes social services, donation and recommends less use of crackers. On this Diwali he encourages to use more of earthen lamps than a variety of electronic lights. Neeraj Garg, from Mindseed shares his expert tips to celebrate safe Diwali and says :
- Burst very few crackers with mummy and papa around.
- Burst them in an open area and never in closed spaces or indoors.
- Keep a bucket of water nearby to splash after the firecrackers are burst. Sometimes these can react with the gunpowder from the leftover cracker dust.
- Wear pretty clothes and shoes that don’t catch fire. Keep your feet fully covered.
- Make sure you never carry firecrackers in your pockets. Always given them to your mummy and papa and keep them in a safety box.
- Dance parties are better and more fun than bursting firecrackers.
Geetha, Academics Head Sunshine Preschool says, “The emphasis for enjoying a safe Diwali should be on exchanging sweets and gifts with the friends and relatives.” Below are the safety precautions she recommends:
- Ensure most of the Diyas and Candles are lighted outside of the door and if placed inside see that curtains are not nearby.
- Diyas and candles play a major role in Diwali celebrations. Ensure most of them are lighted outside of the door and if placed inside see that curtains are not nearby. Flowers and rangoli can be used to beautify the house more.
- Wear closed footwear and nice fitting cotton clothes and stay away from synthetic material to avoid fire accidents.
- Keep bucket full of water, first aid box and a note of emergency numbers to call in case of accidents.
- Fire crackers make more noise than the allowed decibel limit and the smog caused by them is harmful when inhaled so, use the crackers that are less noisy and emit less smoke.
- Fire crackers always in an open place which helps in avoiding accidents.
- Discard used fireworks only in a bucket of water or sand.
