You can visit museums, circuses, zoos, libraries, movies & malls with kids but then there are days when they are home all day in front of the TV or playing on their computer. As moms, we really get uncomfortable about the increased screen time when kids are indoors. We suggest some simple kids friendly DIY experiments & activities to keep the kids engaged & busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make a beautiful volcano<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n What you need \u2013 vase, baking soda, vinegar, food, glitter & pan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Method<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1) Place 2-3 Tablespoons of baking soda in the bottom of the vase.\u00a0 Put the vase in the.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2) Add 6-7 drops of food colouring and 1-2 teaspoons of glitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3) Quickly pour in about 1\/2 cup vinegar. Watch for the sparkles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4) When the action is over, repeat the experiment<\/p>\n\n\n\n Paper mache globe<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Did you miss making a globe on Earth\u2019s day? It\u2019s a great way to learn about how to care for the Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What you need<\/p>\n\n\n\n Scissors, Newspaper, 1 cup flour, 1 cup water, 1 balloon, inflated with a small piece of string tied to the end, Marker, Green and blue acrylic paint, and Foam paintbrush<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1) Spread out some extra newspaper on your work surface to catch the drips before you begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2) Cut your other recycled newspaper into strips and set them aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3) In a large bowl, mix one cup of flour and one cup of water together to form your paper mache paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4) Dip strips of newspaper, one at a time, into your paper mache paste, then \u201csqueegee\u201d the majority of the paste from the newspaper by running the strip between your two fingers. Then apply the strips in layers to your inflated balloon. It may help to set your balloon on top of a bowl or pot to keep your paper mache globe from rolling away while you work! Repeat until you\u2019ve covered the entire surface of the balloon. Finally, hang your paper mache globe outside to dry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once your globe craft has dried, draw the shapes of the continents, paint with green and blue paint and your kids will be ready to take over the world \u2014 or at least the paper mache globe version!
