1.\u00a0Rhymes\u00a0&\u00a0Songs<\/strong>
Rhymes and songs are a fun way to add new words to your child’s vocabulary. Music ignites all areas of child development and skills, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. You will find rhymes on various concepts on YouTube, do give them a try when teaching a specific concept.

2.\u00a0Picture\u00a0Reading<\/strong>
Give your child a storybook with big, colourful and attractive images. Let them look at the pictures and interpret what the characters are saying. Ask them to say it out loud. This is a good way to get them to form sentences and communicate.

3.\u00a0Story-Time<\/strong>
Tell them stories using flashcards, puppets and storybooks. Picture association for a child of this age is crucial. Don’t be afraid to use new words, this is how they will learn. But make sure you are using the new words often so that it registers in their mind.

4.\u00a0Talk\u00a0to\u00a0your\u00a0child<\/strong>
Just talking to your child goes a long way. Not only does it help you to connect with them, but also builds on their vocabulary and social skills. It is a two-way conversation and makes sure you’re an active listener.

Use new words with your child but also don’t bombard them. Try to position the new word in different scenarios so that they are able to understand the context better. Use it often to make sure it becomes embedded in their vocabulary.
