Inspiring mom story of weight loss Post Pregnancy

Sharanya, is one of the inspiring moms among us; she had gained weight post-pregnancy like any other woman. She had a perception that the weight would go away after the pregnancy. But instead of losing, she just kept gaining weight. She was stressed, sleepless, hopelessly in love with her baby and gaining weight. Gained weight brought lots of problems, she decided to lose weight after consulting a doctor. With dedication and hard work,  she lost all the excess weight in just three months.

Like Sharanya, most women gain between 5-18 kgs during pregnancy. Whether you need to drop 5kg or 20kg, you only need  to keep yourself motivated & believe in yourself. And, you would be amazed to know how she was able to shed off those extra kilos.

Below are a few key points she shares regarding her weight loss journey:

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight: When I was overweight, it was very difficult to walk even a little distance without losing breath. This bothered me. I was still young  and at times I felt I had no stamina.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line: I want to encourage all women and mothers like me who want to lose weight and tell them that nothing is impossible. Finding time seems difficult at first but once you get into the routine, there is nothing to stop you. You just need to plan and prioritize.

What are the lifestyle changes you made: I was never a morning person but now I am. Waking up around 4-4:30 AM has definitely helped me get better. Also, I have planned meals and make sure that I have my dinner no later than 7:30 PM. I follow a rigid schedule and stick to it.

How do I stay motivated: I remember this one time, somebody looked at me post-transformation and said that I reminded them of a model from a commercial. So these kinds of quotes from friends helped me stay motivated and continue my workouts.

Here are the most effective ways of losing weight and getting back in shape post-childbirth.

Breastfeed your baby : The rumours are true, nursing your baby burns up to 500 calories per day, like any form of exercise. Of course, it’s important to make sure you get enough calories to produce lots of milk for your infant.

Eat frequently : “It’s helpful to combine protein and carbs even at these small meals, as the right proportions will make the energy you get from them last even longer. Avoid high-calorie foods that do not fill you up,” Kolkata-based gynaecologist Dr Ratnabali Ghosh says.

Get active with your baby : “Put on some music and dance with your baby. If you have never been a big fan of exercise, look for fun workouts, however brief, and involve your baby, so it is fun for both of you. Another option could be speed-walking,” Dr Ghosh says.

Stay Hydrated : Drink water throughout the day to help you stay hydrated and feel full. Avoid excessive caffeine if you are breast-feeding.
