When I held my daughter in my arms for the first time four years back, one of the first thoughts that flashed in my mind was that I had brought this bundle of joy to this world and I was wholly responsible for her upbringing. Like every mother, my learning also began with a lot of ups and downs. But somewhere inside me, a motherly instinct was the guiding light to decide the right things for my daughter.
I loved observing her while she tried to discover new things with her tiny hands and feet (and mouth!). I was amazed to see her insatiable learning appetite and took upon myself to expose her to new things.
I started homeschooling her way before she started going to an outside school. We started with small experiments like –
- Giving her different objects to bang and in the process to understand how they all made different sounds
- Making different foods for her to taste
- Introducing water play
- Reading a variety of books
- Encouraging messy plays
All these activities helped her learn new things, and more importantly it developed a beautiful bond between us.
What started as a mom’s efforts to homeschool her daughter became our way of life. Initially, there were a lot of hurdles, what to do, where to start from? I did a lot of research which helped me in learning about the different milestones for the child. My friends who had young children started asking me about these things as they would see me focusing on my child’s development. I realised there are a lot of mothers like me who need guidance for the activities they can do with their little ones. So I decided to start my Facebook page CRAZY SENSIBLE MOMS to help moms who are ready to put in efforts for the development of their kids. I started sharing new ideas which are simple and can be easily replicated with an objective to spend quality time with the young ones. This is how I made it happen from being a mom to an educator.
